Record for AEX price: ASML, ASMI and BESI up 3 percent

The AEX price does not care about the rising oil price and interest rates, and records an absolute record on Tuesday morning.

Record for AEX price: ASML, ASMI and BESI up 3 percent

The AEX price shot to an absolute record this morning. In doing so, the AEX ignores all concerns about the oil price and rising bond yields. Apparently, investors are still more confident in the AI revolution. ASML, ASMI and BESI are all up about 3 percent on Tuesday morning.

There is undeniably a strange and difficult to gauge situation on the stock market. We are dealing with new uncertainty regarding oil due to the provisional breakdown of the peace talks between the United States and Iran.

At the same time, the market is starting to expect an increasingly strict US central bank. As a result, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 declined yesterday. However, the AEX was not guided by that, because the Amsterdam stock exchange made a new all-time high this morning, as mentioned.

It looks like investors are giving the benefit of the doubt to the AI revolution for now. This morning, for example, it was announced that Anthropic, which will go public in October, expects to invest more than $500 billion in 2027.

These are messages that give investors at least some confidence that the AI investment cycle is not just over. Which does not change the fact that it is about plans. Those plans can of course change if the situation changes drastically.

At the same time, a potential peace deal between the United States and Iran remains the biggest asset card for the financial markets. The rise in bond yields also seems to be largely the result of the oil price of more than 100 dollars per barrel, which of course is the result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Investors will therefore also be extra careful with shares at this time. In theory, the reopening of the important strait can therefore bring about a significant change in that area. That is, for a good portion of extra demand.

At the moment, the Iran war is the main concern of investors. It can suddenly be removed.
