SpaceX stock rises almost 5 percent, this is behind the rally
SpaceX rises almost five percent to over $166. Optimism around Starship, Starlink and positive analyst reports is driving the course.
The share of SpaceX (SPCX) shoots up sharply on Monday. The share price is now up almost five percent, continuing Friday's strong rise. Positive analyst reports and key developments around Starship and Starlink appear to further boost investor confidence.
The increase is striking, because Elon Musk's aerospace company also won more than seven percent on Friday. At the same time, Musk attracts attention with a striking change within the company. The AI branch of SpaceX is getting a new name.
The SpaceX share is around $166.66 on Monday, an increase of 4.85 percent compared to the previous closing price of $158.96. Earlier in the day, the price even rose to $167.65.
SpaceX is thus building on Friday's strong profit. Then the share shot up 7.4 percent. Since the IPO in June, when shares went public for 135 dollars, SPCX is now worth more than 23 percent more.
One clear cause for the recent rally is hard to pinpoint. Tesla also rose strongly on Friday, by 4.7 percent, after the company presented better-than-expected delivery figures for the third quarter. Tesla and SpaceX are both led by Musk and work together in different areas. As a result, the shares sometimes move in the same direction.
Nevertheless, there are also developments that specifically benefit SpaceX. For example, TD Cowen and CLSA recently issued new purchase recommendations. Morgan Stanley is also positive and sees opportunities for Starship's next major test flight.
Not only analysts provide optimism. SpaceX has also made operational progress in the past period.
Starship recently succeeded in launching new Starlink V3 satellites into orbit for the first time. This is important for the further expansion of Starlink, the satellite network with which SpaceX offers internet worldwide.
Starlink in particular plays an important role in SpaceX's revenue model. Increased satellite capacity can help the company connect more customers and improve existing connections.
In addition, interest in computer systems in space is growing. SpaceX is involved in missions that test advanced computer hardware beyond Earth. Investors are therefore no longer only looking at rocket launches and satellite internet, but also at the possible role of the company in future artificial intelligence infrastructure.
In the meantime, price movements remain solid. According to the technical data, after the recent rally, the stock is close to levels where resistance previously arose. The Relative Strength Index is around 65. This indicates solid momentum, without this indicator in itself confirming that the share has been overbought.
Musk, meanwhile, provided a very different kind of news this weekend. He wants to change the name SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. SI stands for ‘super intelligence’.
The billionaire confirmed the plan on X after a user asked him about the possible name change. “Yes, we will make that change,” Musk replied.
The change follows statements by US President Donald Trump. During a speech at the United Nations, he argued for no longer talking about ‘artificial intelligence’, but about ‘super intelligence’.
It is not yet clear when SpaceX will actually enter the new name. At the time Reuters reported this, SpaceXAI's official account on X still bore its old name.
The name change seems to have little impact on investors themselves for the time being. Recent attention is mainly focused on the implementation of the Starship program, further growth of Starlink and the possibility that SpaceX will play a larger role in computer infrastructure in space.
