Crypto alarm clock: Bitcoin is waiting for a crucial day, privacy coins are rising fast
Bitcoin is keeping quiet in the run-up to a crucial day tomorrow. The course is difficult, but that could work to the advantage.
Bitcoin (BTC) doesn't execute as much and hangs around the $80,000 level. The price is very indecisive, but perhaps that will change tomorrow with the interest rate decision in the United States and important quarterly figures.
At the moment, most altcoins also make little noise, but the privacy sector today stands head and shoulders above the rest of the market.
The Bitcoin price is at about the same level as 24 hours ago, but in the meantime the crypto currency has not stood still. There is an intense battle between the bulls and bears, with no clear winner.
Every rise is quickly pushed back and every dip is quickly straightened out.
Ultimately, Bitcoin ended the day in the red, which is a disappointing result. Especially since the markets received support from the oil price, which lost more than 6 percent. Wall Street did end up profiting, with AI-related stocks in particular posting good results.
The high energy prices caused by the Iran war have a direct impact on inflation, but they are now seeping further and further into the rest of the economy. As a result, the US central bank unanimously decided last month to raise interest rates for the first time in three years.
A new interest rate meeting starts today, but the market is fairly certain that we will be told tomorrow that interest rates will remain unchanged. Nevertheless, there is a lot of tension about the choice of words by chairman Kevin Warsh at his press conference.
Bitcoin has been showing a striking pattern around interest rate decisions for a long time. In the last eight meetings, the course in the week after the decision always went the other way than in the week before. That would be a good idea now.
An important test for the AI trade on the stock market will also follow tomorrow when Microsoft and Alphabet announce their quarterly figures. Last week, strong figures from meta, for example, could not allay the fear of sky-high investments.
In recent times, Bitcoin has clearly lost momentum. The price drops further and further away, but under the hood we see something interesting happening. Trading volume is decreasing and both the Relative Strength Index (RSI) and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) are setting higher trades.
This combination shows that the decline is losing its strength: Bitcoin is falling even lower, but with fewer and fewer sellers behind it.
This is also called a bullish divergence, and could ultimately benefit the rest of the market.
All privacy coins are already doing well today anyway. For example, Dash (DASH) has risen by 7.54 percent and Midnight (NIGHT) is the largest riser within the top 100 with a gain of 8.22 percent.
