Bitcoin price nears signal that preceded 370% increase in 2020

Bitcoin is about to give an important bullish signal that has not been seen for more than a year.

Bitcoin price nears signal that preceded 370% increase in 2020

Bitcoin (BTC) has shown a strong recovery in recent months and is now around $86,000. Although the increase has weakened somewhat recently, an important technical signal points to a stronger underlying picture. According to one analyst, a technical pattern may soon emerge that has not occurred since 2025.

These are the moving averages over 50, 100 and 200 days. According to analyst Vikram Subburaj, these averages are about to give an important bullish signal. Traders use them to determine in which direction the Bitcoin price moves over different periods.

With a fully bullish pattern, the 50-day average is above the 100-day average. That should then be above the 200-day average again. That situation is now almost reached.

The 50-day average is around $79,495. The 100-day average is around $79,493 and is approaching the 200-day average of $79,539.

“That crossing would restore the order in which the 50-day average is above the 100-day and 200-day average for the first time since the previous formation on June 24, 2025,” says Subburaj, CEO of crypto exchange Giottus.

According to Subburaj, the signal confirms that Bitcoin's recovery has lasted for the past few months. The Bitcoin price rose by more than 40 percent in the third quarter, briefly reaching above $87,000.

In the past, the same pattern sometimes preceded significant price increases. At the end of October 2020, Bitcoin was around $13,600 when this bullish pattern emerged. A few months later, the price reached a then-record level above 64,000 dollars.

The pattern also appeared in early November 2023. Bitcoin then rose from about $35,000 to $73,000.

Nevertheless, the signal did not always turn out positively. The bullish formation of June 2025 lasted 97 days, but Bitcoin only rose from about 106,000 to 112,000 dollars. In June 2024, the same situation lasted only twenty days. During that period, Bitcoin lost about 10 percent.

“The crossing reinforces the image of an upward trend, but does not guarantee that it will continue,” says Subburaj.
