HHS cancels Moderna award, GE Vernova, Amazon-NY Times AI deal

It’s time for Yahoo! Finance’s market minute. The Department of Health and Human Services canceling Moderna’s over $700 million award to develop vaccines for the bird flu. This coming just days after the department headed by RFK Jr. narrowed access to COVID-19 vaccines made by Moderna and its peers. Shares of the pharmaceutical giant still rising today despite that news. G.E. Vernova shares, they’re lower, but still trading near all-time highs here. Jefferies analysts downgrading that stock to hold from buy, while raising its price target, though, to 517 from 427. The analyst citing GE Vernova’s high valuation in that downgrade. And Amazon striking a deal with the New York Times to use the news organization’s content across its AI platforms. This comes after Times sued Amazon in 2023 for copyright infringement.
