Famed billionaire investor Warren Buffett ended the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting with a mic drop moment by announcing that he was going to recommend Greg Abel as the next CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. The plan is going to be put to a vote at the next board meeting, and over the next few months they will have the opportunity to assess and make the ultimate decision. The transition could come as soon as the end of 2025, where Warren Buffett says he would still stick around in decision-making capacities where he can add value, but the final vote will always come down to Greg thereafter. Greg Abel was long seen as the successor to Buffett. He currently serves as the chairperson and CEO of Berkshire Energy and has been with Berkshire Hathaway for 25 years. The announcement, it was met with resounding applause and Buffett also confirmed he has no plans to sell shares.
