We want to bring in uh Yahoo Finance’s Josh Schafer now because obviously we are have been very focused on Tesla, whose stock initially didn’t do much of anything then went up. But we’re also watching what’s going on in the broader market, because there we’re seeing some action.

Yeah, Julie. So you’re looking at futures tied to the three major averages there. So you see Dow futures up 1.6%. You’re looking at futures tied to the S&P 500 up 1.9%, and then you’re futures tied to the NASDAQ 100 up over 2%. Kind of key, or two key headlines from President Trump as he was speaking with reporters coming out earlier this afternoon. So, President Trump called tariffs to China, quote, “145% is very high. It won’t be that high.” And then he also said later in comments that he does not intend to fire Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell. We have Jay Woods sitting here with us from Freedom Capital Markets, and Jay, I’m just sort of curious when you take those two headlines, what do you think sort of driving the market here? Is it maybe not as high as we thought on China, or is it he’s not firing Powell?

Uh, well, we we saw it in real time. Uh, not firing Powell, we got a nice little pop and then a little follow-through with that China story. So now, going through the Tesla, to keep it on Tesla, we’re going to have to watch to see this price action, to me, was based on those two stories, and then I watched every comment he made to see where price would go. It never could stay above 250, 251. It’s kind of leveling out. So we listen to the call, I want to hear what the analysts have to say, their thoughts, we’ve given you ours. Uh, but right now, uh this rally after hours is more because of that headline that came between Powell and Trump and China than exactly what we learned on that Tesla call.

And it’s going to be interesting to see if it’s going to be enough once we get to the morning, right? Futures have been volatile overnight recently.
