The Philadelphia Fed taps Anna Paulson to take over as the bank’s president and CEO. She is replacing Patrick Harker, who is retiring in June after 10 years leading the bank. Paulson is coming from the Chicago Fed, where she spent most of her career. Paulson served as executive vice president and director of research at the bank, focused on financial stability and monetary policy. Paulson saying in a press release, quote, I look forward to leading the Philadelphia Fed team, who are deeply committed to fostering the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the nation’s monetary, financial, and payment systems. This move comes as President Trump is pressuring the Central Bank to cut rates. Fed Chair J. Powell has maintained the FOMC’s preference to hold until they are assured the dual mandate is on track. Trump posting on Truth Social this morning that Powell is quote, always too late and wrong, unquote, and that Powell’s termination cannot come fast enough. Anna Paulson will take office July 1st.
